The Mercedes-Benz EQS is here

After years of waiting and millions of testing, the Mercedes-Benz EQS electric car is here.

Mercedes-Benz may not have been the first company to lead the automobile industry into the new electric era, but it is still one of the most influential brands shaping the future of this era. So it's time to welcome the Mercedes-Benz EQS, the flagship of the EQ electric family, after years of waiting and millions of tests to provide a product at the level of the star brand.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS preserves the primary lines of the concept that we were familiar with years ago and lands its details with more delicate forms, but without losing the futuristic touch that drew attention to the idea in the first place. Furthermore, they decided to offer it in a two-tone format that contrasts its forms beautifully. Variants with a single body color will also be available.

With a closed grille and dozens of tiny stars, well-defined headlamps, and a daytime running light that matches the hallmark of LEDs all over the front center, it has a crisp and broad front end. It's worth noting that its LED headlights can be equipped with the Digital Light system, which allows pedestrians and other drivers to see clear messages mirrored on the ground.

Although it has four doors, the sides reveal an extraordinarily clean silhouette and a "coupe" cut. Mercedes boasts that its aerodynamic drag coefficient is under 0.20 Cx, the lowest ever recorded in the history of production cars; therefore, one of these forms has to do with aerodynamics.

LED skulls are joined to the center by a light strip in the back, and a little spoiler completes the shape. It appears to be of container size in images, but it is actually larger than a Mercedes-Benz S-Class with a standard body. The dimensions of this Mercedes-Benz EQS are 5.21 meters long by 1.92 meters wide.

Mercedes-Benz is well renowned for paving the path for the modern automotive world through the efforts of its founders. Since then, they've been battling it out to be the automotive industry's spearhead. They were responsible for the development of hundreds of components that are now standard in 99.9% of all cars on the road. Today, their objective is to keep that step, and they want to do so with the help of technology.

The interior of the Mercedes-Benz EQS is just stunning, and the massive entertainment system known as Hyperscreen is the first thing that catches the attention. It comprises a 56" glass that spans the full width of the dash and has three high-definition OLED panels measuring 12.3 inches for the digital instrument panel, 17.7 inches for the center screen, and another 12.3 inches for the passenger multimedia screen.

As always, this system will be highly adaptable; it will include internet access, augmented reality navigation, and hundreds of information and entertainment alternatives based on the demands of the driver and his passengers. It should be emphasized that this massive screen is an option; the vehicle will come standard with a classic dashboard with a 12.8" central screen and a 12.3" digital instrument panel. This system is compatible with the most recent MBUX development, which can interpret more complicated voice commands to manage aspects like heating, massage, navigation, smart home, reminders, and more. It is also programmed to learn the driver's routines and give more useful suggestions as a result.

Mercedes-Benz has only shown two versions of the EQS so far, both having a bench in the back to accommodate a total of five passengers. Knowing the Mercedes-Benz brand, it's virtually guaranteed that additional variants, or at the very least possibilities to equip it with individual rear seats, will be introduced in the future. Mercedes did not provide the actual dimensions of its cabin, which is unfortunate. Nonetheless, given the advantages of a dedicated electric car chassis, the space is likely to be superior to that of an S-Class.

Mercedes-Benz could not afford to skimp on power as a flagship. So the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+, the entry-level model, will generate 329 horsepower and 338 pound-feet of torque from an electric motor positioned on the back axle - yes, rear-wheel-drive only in this case. According to the brand, it is powered by a 107.8 kWh lithium-ion battery that can store up to 26% more energy than the EQC.

Despite its weight of 2,480 kg, this electric vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and reach a high speed of 210 km/h. Furthermore, Mercedes-Benz claims that this battery could provide up to 770 km of autonomy in the WLTP cycle for both models.

The Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic, the most powerful model, will have two motors, one for each axle, bringing the total output to 516 hp and 631 lb.-ft. of torque. Furthermore, thanks to the second axle with traction and vector torque, you will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, even when the vehicle's weight reaches 2,585 kg on the scale. The highest speed allowed is 210 kilometers per hour.

Both electric vehicles will feature a steerable rear axle, but it will only turn 4.5 degrees at first. Even so, a second rear axle with a 10o turning radius will be available as an option for even greater mobility. In addition, it will come equipped with adaptive suspension. It will also disable the brand's whole arsenal, which allows you to engage semi-autonomous driving on the highway by maintaining or changing lanes, intelligently increasing or lowering speed, and even taking action ahead of time if the GPS detects a traffic jam or a crash miles ahead.

A 200 kW charger's quick loading allows you to go from 10% to 80% capacity in about 30 minutes. The Mercedes-Benz EQS prices start at 106,000 euros, but the degree of equipment, technology, power, and pleasures found in this electric vehicle is priceless.
